72 new energy vehicles to be withdrawn from the purchase tax-exempt catalogue

26 March, The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a public announcement on the proposed withdrawal of the "Catalogue of New Energy Vehicles Exempted from Vehicle Purchase Tax" (hereinafter referred to as the "Catalogue"). According to the Announcement on Exemption of Purchase Tax of New Energy Vehicles and the Announcement of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation, the Catalogue is under dynamic management. According to statistics, after the 16th batch of Catalogue was released in February 2018, a total of 72 models have no production or import volume within 12 months and are to be withdrawn from the Catalogue. BAIC, BYD, Geely and other car companies all have models in the catalogue, including 16 new energy passenger car products. The retrospective reason is that, on 2 April 2018, the competent authorities announced that they had implemented dynamic management of the "Catalogue of New Energy Vehicles Exempted from Vehicle Purchase Tax" and that no production or import had been made as of the date of the announcement after being included in the "Catalogue" prior to 1 January 2017 Vehicle models with no production or import volume within 12 months after their inclusion in the Catalogue on or after 1 January 2017 shall be withdrawn from the Catalogue after 5 working days of public announcement without objection. But consumers don't have to worry too much about the policy, which basically won't affect users' purchases. Generally speaking, when car companies declare for the same product, there will be multiple models based on some parameter information or supplier differences. Even if some models are cancelled, it will not affect the sales of other models in this product family. The main purpose of the policy is to improve the quality of products and prevent the occurrence of "fish and dragons" mixed situation. The cancellation of vehicle models is basically not for sale, but for the discontinued models, or non-mass production models, or the planned launch of pending models in the later period, which has a relatively small impact on the market.
